The Municipality of Neebing has measures in place to help control loose and dangerous animals as well as handle animal related by-law concerns and livestock protection claims.

Dog by-laws

View Neebing's Canine Control By-law for information about dog rules and policies in our community. Find out more about operating a dog kennel in Neebing with our Kennel By-law.

Livestock

The Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program provides financial assistance to producers whose livestock, poultry or honey bees have been damaged by wildlife. Our municipal Livestock Valuator can help you complete your livestock claim. Contact the municipal office for details.

If you have questions about the keeping of livestock, chickens, etc., please refer to the Section 2.13 of our Zoning By-law.

Beaver control

Nuisance beaver can cause damage to your property. Visit the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for tips on controlling beaver on private land.

Animal cruelty

If you think an animal is in distress or being abused, please call Ontario Animal Protection at 1-833-926-4625.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does Neebing have a by-law about dogs running at large?

Yes! A dog is considered to be running at large when:

  • it is found in any place other than the premises of the owner/caretaker of the dog
  • it is not under the control of any person

My neighbour's dog barks all night long. Is there something the municipality can do about it?

Yes! Contact the municipal office and file a report. It is an offence for a dog owner to allow their dog to make persistent noise and disturb the peace.

If I file a complaint, will my name be shared with the dog owner?

Your personal information will not be shared with the dog's owner. However, for the Municipality to respond to your complaint, you must provide us with your contact information.

Does Neebing have a dog catcher or someone to pick up stray cats?

No, sorry. Neebing does not provide these types of services.
