Energy Conservation

In 2009 the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure enacted the Green Energy Act to help public agencies including municipalities, hospitals and schools manage and reduce their energy consumption. As part of this Act, Regulation 397/11 requires certain public agencies to report on their annual energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The regulation also requires the development and implementation of conservation and demand management (CDM) plans.

Lakehead Rural Municipal Coalition
Representing our and our Neighbours’ Common Interests

The Lakehead Rural Municipal Coalition (LRMC) was formed to consider issues common to the six rural communities surrounding the City of Thunder Bay. They are the Township of Conmee, Township of Gillies and Township of O’Connor, Municipality of Neebing, Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge and the Municipality of Shuniah. The Mayor or Reeve and a senior administration staff member from each municipality meet monthly to discuss issues affecting the rural municipalities and to determine courses of action. The councils of the six communities feel presenting a united front to the Provincial and Federal Governments, as well as to other outside agencies we are legislated to support, carries greater weight. Working together reduces duplication of efforts from the member municipalities. Periodically we will present an issue(s) that the LRMC has identified as a concern. Please review the Rural Action Plan for the most recent compendium of issues.

Strategic Plan (Draft)

We have been working to develop a Strategic Plan that will outline Council's vision and guide decision making in the future.
