For 20 years Waste Reduction Week in Canada has focused on the concepts of waste reduction and recycling as a key component of the transition to a circular economy. The Circular Innovation Council is extending Waste Reduction Week in Canada beyond the third week of October into Circular Economy Month to educate and excite Canadians about the opportunities and benefits of the circular economy.

The Ontario Renovates Program, a component of the Investment in Affordable Housing in Ontario, is made available to The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administrative Board (TBDSSAB) through funding from the federal and provincial governments. Eligible individuals and families living in the Municipality of Neebing are supported by the social services  and funding programs offered by TBDSSAB.

The Provincial Day of Action on Litter is celebrated on the second Tuesday of May each year in Ontario.

We are taking action to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills or becoming litter by bringing awareness to the impacts of waste on our environment and encouraging people to take action at home and in their community to help keep our environment clean and healthy for generations to come.

Residents will be able to recycle more plastic items.

Plastics numbered 1 through 7 will be accepted at the Municipal Landfill Sites. However, no plastic shopping bags are allowed.

Remember to rinse any liquid or food residue in your plastics and cans and bag these items in clear or blue bags before bringing them to the Landfill Site.
