Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response Visits Neebing
On Thursday April 24, 2025, we were pleased to welcome the Honourable Minister Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, and Deputy Minister Bernie Derible, Minister and Commissioner of Emergency Management to the Municipality of Neebing. The visit showcased the equipment that the Municipality of Neebing purchased through the 2023-2024 Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG).
Neebing received $47,538.65 through the CEPG. These funds were used for the purchase of two emergency generators which were installed in strategic locations within the Municipality. One generator was placed at Neebing Fire Hall #1, the primary responding fire hall, and the other at the Blake Community Hall, which serves as the primary evacuation and reception centre. The new units will provide uninterrupted hydro power at these two facilities, which will serve us well in the event of an emergency or disaster.
We would like to say thank you to the Minister and the Deputy Minister for visiting and for prioritizing the needs of Ontario municipalities when it comes to emergency preparedness. Grant opportunities like the CEPG, make a significant difference in how communities will be able to provide critical emergency services at a time when the community will need it the most.
Emergency Preparedness Week is May 4-10, 2025. Emergency Preparedness Starts with You. Know the risks. Make a plan. Get an emergency kit. For more information on Neebing’s Emergency Response Plan visit www.neebing.org/beprepared.
