Election 2026: Introducing Electronic and Telephone Voting

For the first time, the Municipality of Neebing will be using electronic and telephone voting for the 2026 Municipal Election. This modern voting option allows eligible electors to cast their ballot conveniently and securely without having to attend a polling station.

Voters will be able to vote using:

• A computer, tablet, or smartphone connected to the internet; or
• Any touch-tone telephone.

The new voting system is designed to make voting more accessible and convenient while maintaining the security and secrecy of the ballot.

Watch for your Voter Information Letter

Voter Information Letters have been mailed and should arrive during the first week of October.

Your Voter Information Letter contains:

• Your unique Personal Identification Number (PIN)
• Instructions for voting online
• Instructions for voting by telephone
• Important voting dates and information

You will need the PIN and instructions provided in this letter in order to vote. Please keep your letter in a safe place and do not share your PIN with anyone.

If you do not receive your Voter Information Letter by the first week of October, please contact the Municipal Office as soon as possible. Staff can verify your eligibility and provide assistance so that you are able to participate in the election.

Voting Dates and Hours

The voting period will open at 9:00 am on October 16, 2026 and will close at 8:00 pm on October 26, 2026.

Electors may cast their ballot at any time during the voting period using either the secure online voting system or the telephone voting system. Voting will be available 24 hours a day throughout the voting period, except that all voting will end promptly at 8:00 pm on October 26.

Voters are encouraged to vote early rather than waiting until the final day.

How It Works

Voting is simple:

1. Have your Voter Information Letter available.
2. During the voting period, visit the secure voting website or call the telephone voting number provided in your letter.
3. Enter your PIN and follow the instructions.
4. Review your selections and submit your ballot.

Once your ballot has been submitted, it cannot be changed. Your PIN is unique to you and can only be used once. After a vote has been successfully cast, the PIN is no longer valid.

Vote from Anywhere

Electronic and telephone voting allows eligible electors to cast their ballot from home, while travelling, or anywhere they have access to the internet or a touch-tone telephone during the voting period.

This is particularly beneficial for:

• Non-resident property owners
• Residents who travel for work or recreation
• Individuals with mobility challenges
• Electors who prefer the convenience of voting from home

Need Assistance?

The Municipal Office will serve as the Election Help Desk throughout the voting period. Staff will be available to assist electors with voter eligibility questions, PIN issues, and general voting inquiries.

Electors who do not have access to a computer, telephone, or internet service, or who require assistance with the voting process, may visit the Municipal Office Election Help Desk in person. Staff can guide electors through the voting process and provide access to a voting station where eligible electors can cast their ballot.
