Please take notice that the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality of Neebing, at its regular meeting held on November 3, 2021, passed By-law 2021-043 to change the ward boundaries and Council composition, pursuant to Section 222 of the Municipal Act, 2001.
Effects of the change:
Under the current structure, there are seven (7) members of Council, made up of a Mayor, a Councillor elected at large, and five (5) ward Councillors (one each for electoral wards made up of the geographic townships of Blake, Crooks, Pardee, Pearson and Scoble).
Under the new structure, there will be five (5) members of Council, made up of a Mayor and four (4) ward Councillors (one each for electoral wards made up of the four geographic townships of Blake, Crooks and Scoble; and one for the combined geographic townships of Pardee and Pearson).
How to appeal:
Under Subsection 222(4) of the Municipal Act, 2001, any person or agency may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) by filing a notice of appeal with the Clerk-Treasurer of the Municipality of Neebing.
The Notice of Appeal must:
The by-law will not take effect or be in force until after the appeal period has passed without an appeal, or, in the case of an appeal, until after the appeal has been heard. If there are no appeals, the by-law will take effect for the 2022 Municipal election.
For the by-law to be effective for the 2022 election, one of the following must occur:
If the by-law comes into force after January 1, 2022, then it will be effective for the 2026 election.
The deadline to file a notice of appeal is Monday, December 20, 2021 at 5:00 pm.
