May 30, 2023
Neebing Fire Chief Dale Ashbee has declared a Fire Ban in the Municipality of Neebing effective at 16:00 hours May 30, 2023. All 2023 Neebing Fire Permits are SUSPENDED during the Fire Ban and No New Fire Permits will be issued in Neebing until further notice. A Restricted Fire Zone designation (fire ban) covers all outside burning, including grass, debris and campfires, even when using an outdoor fire grate, fire place or fire pit.
The MNR Fire Danger Rating Map is showing most of NW Ontario including Neebing to be in an area of Extreme Fire Danger. Weather forecasts for the next week indicates continuing hot weather and little chance of precipitation. The Neebing fire ban will help manage the fire danger by minimizing the potential for human caused fire starts in the municipality.
Residents are asked to remain alert to fire dangers in their area and to carryout some of their normal activities such as grass cutting and trail riding during cooler hours in the morning and evening to further reduce the potential for unintentional fire starts.
Residents should also watch for action on a broader level by the MNR designating large areas of NW Ontario as a Restricted Fire Zone which will impact bush activities in areas outside of Neebing.
