The Lakehead OPP Detachment Board represents communities within the Thunder Bay OPP Detachment Area
The Board is made up of one elected official from each of the following seven (7) communities, as well as three (3) Provincial representatives and three (3) community representatives;
Responsibilities of the Board:
The Province is recruiting three (3) individuals to sit as the Provincial Representatives on the Board.
The Provincial Representative position is an opportunity for interested residents to participate in setting objectives and priorities for the Thunder Bay OPP Detachment to enhance the quality of life and ensure the safety and security of all persons and property in the detachment.
The following are ineligible from being members of the Board:
Board members are expected to complete mandatory training as per the Community Safety and Policing Act, adhere to the Code of Conduct for OPP Detachment Board Members and attend meetings as determined by the Board with no fewer than four meetings each year.
Members will serve for the remainder of the 2022-2026 term of Council and will be compensated for the meeting attendance at a rate determined by the Board.
If successful, the applicant must provide a satisfactory police record check with no criminal history prior to confirmation of any appointment to the Board.
