The Corporation of the Municipality of Neebing is accepting applications for the following position:


PROPERTY MAINTENANCE WORKER (one summer student position)


The Property Maintenance Worker provides the following services:

  • Grass cutting (including trimming near trees, fence posts, headstones, building walls, etc.) at municipal parks, the cemetery, fire halls, helipads, the municipal office complex, and certain other municipal property;
  • General tidying and maintenance of municipal properties (litter pick-up, vandalism reporting, etc.), including the Municipal Garage complex, the municipal landfill sites, etc.;
  • General labour at municipal property sites, including:  minor landscaping, grounds keeping, painting, general cleaning, etc.; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a part-time, non-union, position.  The work week will vary but a minimum of 24 hours per week (3 full, 8-hour working days) will be required.  Some work interruptions may occur due to weather conditions.

A valid “Class G” driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.  The Property Maintenance Worker must be physically fit and willing to do manual labour with limited supervision.  He or she must be able to work with others as a team or be able to work on his or her own if needed. 

The Property Maintenance Worker should be familiar with various types of grounds keeping equipment, such as: riding lawn tractors, gas powered weed cutters, manual and hand tools.  Knowledge of, and certification for, chainsaw operations would be an asset.  

Maintaining health & safety is a Municipal priority.  All workers, including the Property Maintenance Worker, must work prudently without risk-taking, and wear all personal protective equipment that is assigned.  Mandatory health and safety training sessions must be attended.

This position has historically been held by a student returning to secondary or post-secondary education at the end of the work term.  Preference will be given to student employment, however, the position is open to others as well.

2017 wage is set at $14.33 per hour.  Any hours in excess of 24 per week require the approval of the Working Roads Foreman.
