THE RURAL ACTION PLAN

For the past decade or so, the Mayor of Neebing has participated in a co-operative group of rural heads-of-council called the “Lakehead Rural Municipal Coalition” or “LRMC”.  Member municipalities are Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah, Conmee, O’Connor and Gillies.  Meeting monthly, the leaders of these communities work together to address issues of common interest.

Beginning in 2017, the LRMC developed a compendium of common issues for the purposes of advocacy with higher orders of government.  Each time there is an opportunity for members to meet with Provincial or Federal leaders, this “Rural Action Plan” is revised.  The most recent edition (January, 2019) was finalized in preparation for the Rural Ontario Municipal Association conference in Toronto.

Check out the latest version of the Rural Action Plan to see how your elected officials are working to address issues of common concern to rural municipalities.
